Machete Wielding Clown Arrested in Maine

Tuesday evening in Hollis, Maine multiple 911 calls flooded into dispatch. Reports of a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a clown mask drunkenly walking and wielding a machete at cars near a road on July 25, 2017.

State troopers identified him as 31-year old Corey Berry. After drinking a couple of beers, the Hollis resident decided he wanted to mimic the creepy clown pranks that took place last fall.

Berry explained that he taped a machete to his amputated arm limb and put on a creepy clown mask. He proceeded to walk near the Little Mart on Plains Road expecting to scare people.

People saw him and immediately called authorities, then Berry ran into the woods nearby. State troopers had trouble locating him.

While searching calls continued from those claiming to have seen him. Berry later emerged from the woods near Waterboro.

State Trooper Adam Schmidt said that Berry was intoxicated but cooperative. He was arrested and taken to York County Jail, Berry was charged with criminal threatening.

Berry told officers, “I just doing a clown prank.” He later posted his $200 bail.
