Three people were shot as they encountered a car-to-car shootout on the 1500 block of South Kildare Avenue in the Lawndale community of Chicago’s West Side.
The area in front of the 15th St. Food Mart drew a definitive picture as a four to five car crash followed the gunfight. According to one news outlet, a 20-year-old man was fatally wounded resulting from a bullet to the head.
The report also stated that a teenage boy and girl were shot during the gunfire; both 17 years old.
Chicago Police say that the shooting took place at approximately 2:20 p.m. CT.
All three victims were rushed by ambulance to Chicago’s Mount Sinai Hospital, where the 20-year-old was pronounced dead upon arrival. The girl sustained an abdomen wound and remains in serious condition.
She and the deceased man were together in one of the cars, however, the young man was on the sidewalk. He was not an intended target, according to the police. The young man was shot in the head.
The Public Slate will provide further details as information comes available.
