The Golden State Warriors swept the Utah Jazz in game 4, 121-95, Monday, May 8, 2017, to move on to the Western Conference Finals. The game took place on Utah’s home court, Vivint Smart Home Arena, in Salt Lake City.

The Warriors came out of the chute firing on all cylinders and blitzed the Jazz in the first quarter. Golden State more than doubled up Utah and it appeared this might turn into a blowout early.

However, the Jazz fought back in front of their home crowd during the second quarter. They flipped the scoring and outdid the Warriors 35-21, to close the gap to 8 points, 60-52 at halftime.

The third quarter saw a brief spark by the Jazz and they cut the lead to 6 points, 66-60 in the first four minutes of the period. The remainder of the quarter was back and forth scoring by the two teams until the final minute of the third. The Warriors went on a 6-0 run to end the period leading 93-79.

The Warriors went on to own the final stanza. Utah fought hard, but Golden State’s tough defense and its well-executed fast-break offense were too much for the Jazz to handle. They could never get closer than 12 points the rest of the contest.

Golden State joins the Cleveland Cavaliers as the only undefeated teams in this year’s playoffs. The dominance of the Warriors was shown convincingly in this series. They only trailed for a total of 11 minutes and 55 seconds for the entire series against the Jazz.

The Jazz were led by forward, Gordon Hayward who scored 25 points. The Warriors had four starters in double figures, led by Stephan Curry, with a game-high 30 points. Draymond Green had a triple-double for Golden State, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.

The Warriors await the winner of the Spurs-Rockets series which is currently tied at two games apiece.
