The Boston Celtics crushed the Chicago Bulls, 105-83, Friday, April 28, 2017, to capture their first round, best-of-seven series, four games to two. The game took place at the United Center in Chicago in front of a disappointed home crowd.

This contest was, really, no contest. The Bulls never led in the game. The only time the game was close was the first quarter, which ended with Boston leading 30-23. The lead was stretched to 13 at the half with the Celtics leading 54-41.

It was not a blowout, right away, in the second half. It only took a few minutes for the Celtics to push the lead to 20 points, and finish the third, leading 88-59. The reason the lead was not larger seemed to be because both teams realized the game was really already over at that point. The benches began to empty halfway through the fourth quarter.

Boston had come into the series favored to defeat the Bulls. The Celtics had the best regular season record in the Eastern Conference and earned the number one seed. The Bulls were the number eight seed with a record of 41 wins and 41 losses. Boston lost the first two games at home, won three games away, and won only one contest in Boston.

The Celtics were led by guard, Avery Bradley, with 23 points. It was a total team effort for Boston as all five starting players scored in double figures. Chicago’s Jimmy Butler was their leader, scoring 23 points.

Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas is leaving from Chicago for the Seattle area to attend the funeral of his sister. She passed tragically just before the start of the playoffs.

This was the first playoff series win for the head coach of the Celtics, Brad Stevens. The Celtics move on to the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the Washington Wizards, Sunday, April 30, in Boston.
