The Pulse Orlando shooter’s wife, Noor Salman was arrested by the FBI on Jan. 16, 2017. They took her into custody in California, although the charges were filed in Florida where Omar Mateen massacred 49 people on June 12, 2016.

Officials for the FBI did not disclose details of the charges filed against Salman. When investigating Mateen’s movements and agenda prior to the Pulse Orlando massacre, Salman was questioned. During that time the FBI announced they thought she was guilty of failing to notify police or other agencies of her husband’s intent to use weapons in an attack. Salman told authorities that she believed he suffered from mental illness.

Mateen died when authorities responded to multiple calls about shooting in progress at the LGBT nightclub, Pulse, in Orlando, Fla. His rampage disrupted many lives and left family, friends, and the LGBT community questioning his motives. The massacre was considered to be the largest mass shooting in the history of the United States.

The scene was intense. Many patrons at the club sent out texts that they were shot and possibly dying. Some took video, and the sounds of multiple gunshots could be heard in the background.

When investigating, authorities determined 29-year-old Mateen pledged allegiance to ISIS. During the attack, Mateen called 911 and told the emergency services officer of his affiliation with the terrorist group. He also mentioned the Boston Marathon bombers.

Mateen walked into Pulse Orlando with an assault rifle and a handgun at about 2:00 a.m. EDT and began shooting. As a result, he killed 49 and wounded at least 53, according to CNN. The standoff was about three hours long.

Salman will make her first appearance in San Francisco’s federal court on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017.
