Newt Gingrich May Be Vice President for Donald Trump

Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich may be vice president for Donald Trump. Widely reported as a finalist for vice president in a Trump administration, he criticized Hillary Clinton, the Democratic opponent.

On July 3, 2016, Gingrich appeared on the “Cats Roundtable” with John Catsimatidis, in New York, to discuss the history of Independence Day and the upcoming election. During the interview, the former speaker of the House criticized Clinton, claiming that the Democratic presidential candidate is perfect for “a corrupt, dishonest government in Washington.” Gingrich considers Clinton to be an excellent deceiver who is capable of lying about virtually everything.

Also, Gingrich discussed the military and “changing America back to prosperity, jobs, creativity, and dynamics.” He concluded, saying that “if you think we need to change things […] than Trump is the only candidate in this race who makes any sense at all.”

Gingrich and Trump Share Similar Past

As Gingrich may be VP for Trump, it looks like the two of them have many similarities. According to the “Huffington Post,” both Gingrich and Trump owned and operated many different corporations and some filed for bankruptcy. Both men found ways to financially benefit from sharing their trade secrets, like the Trump Academy.

Moreover, Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, and his possible VP are characterized in the same way by people who have worked for them. According to the “Huffington Post,” they are both “self-absorbed, hot-tempered bosses who view themselves as geniuses who needn’t bother with details.”

Republicans Want Gingrich, Others Disagree

While Republicans seem to want Gingrich, the Democrats do not share their views. Clinton’s followers remember that in the past, as it is stated in the “Washington Times,” Gingrich was recognized for his controversial ethics, a budget crisis, and government shutdowns.

On the other hand, Republicans may see Gingrich “as the guy who almost took down Former President Bill Clinton.” Furthermore, according to Politicususa, the voters from Trump’s side ignore the fact that Gingrich produced a massive midterm crash.

Gingrich or Christie?

As Trump is expected to pick his vice president soon, the list of potential running mates is short. Gingrich, who may be Trump’s VP has an opponent, New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie.

During the campaign for the Republican’s nominee, Christie emerged as one of the most important candidates for the vice presidential position. He has defended Trump from the start. Christie even started to design a government on Trump’s behalf. He is considered, by the Republican presidential nominee, as a possible running mate who “would have a prominent place in a Trump White House.”

Moreover, on July 4, 2016, Trump tweeted three names as possible VP picks. They are Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, and Iowa Senator Joni Ernst.

However, political journalists believe Gingrich may be the VP for Trump. As it is stated in “The Washington Times,” the former House speaker is powered by his sincere interest in national security, his incisive way of communicating and his limitless energy.

Trump’s final VP pick is expected to be announced as soon as possible.
