Ted Cruz Endorses Marco Rubio’s Senate Re-Election Bid

CruzMarco Rubio recently announced he has changed his mind and will seek re-election for the Senate according to “Politico.” He announced his bid June 22, 2016, which was only two days before the deadline to file. Rubio stated his reason for changing his mind was to ensure that the Republicans will continue to hold the majority in the Senate. Ted Cruz gave Rubio his endorsement in his bid for re-election.

Two hours after Rubio’s announcement Cruz released a statement, calling Rubio a friend and an ally and that he was pleased to offer him his support for his bid to keep his Senate seat. He further stated that Rubio was a voice for the American dream and that leaders like him are needed to protect civil liberties, economic growth, and ensure national security.

The competition between Rubio and Cruz turned bitter during their bid for the presidential nomination, trading insults along with their other competitor Donald Trump. The Senator claimed he would not seek to keep his Senate seat while he was campaigning to run for president. Cruz has not offered his endorsement for the Republican presidential nominee, Trump.
