According to ABC News, the law and order officials of Orlando, Florida, have finally made public the identities of the victims of the Pulse Orlando Nightclub shootout. This carnage shook the city on early Sunday morning, June 12, 2016. The shooting claimed 50 lives and left 53 people injured. The shooter, who opened fire on the nightclub, is a suspected ISIS assassin.
Details of the identified victims, mostly in their 20s and 30s have been confirmed and released by the Orlando Police Department, after contacting their relatives.
The police officials have identified the following people:
- Edward Sotomayor Jr., 34
- Stanley Almodovar III, 23
- Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo, 20
- Juan Ramon Guerrero, 22
- Eric Ivan Ortiz-Rivera, 36
- Peter O. Gonzalez-Cruz, 22
- Luis S. Vielma, 22
The police department admitted that there was a delay in the announcing of the victims’ names. This was despite the fact that more than 24 hours had lapsed since the massacre took place.
However, it put the onus partly on the time it took for the S.W.A.T. team to raid the crime scene. Until then, many of the fatally wounded remained in the nightclub for hours.
