Jay-Z Responds to Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’

Jay-ZJay-Z has responded to Beyoncé’s musical track ‘Lemonade’ in a guest verse on the remix to Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up.” In the track “Lemonade,” Beyoncé accused Jay-Z of cheating with an unknown woman whom she referred as Miss Becky and taking her for granted. The remix “All The Way UP” was released late on Wednesday, May 26,2016, via Tidal, “of course.”

Beyoncé’s song fueled a lot of speculation in the media and among her fans. A lot of people believed that there was a strife in her marriage with Jay-Z, thus her partner’s response was eagerly awaited. Jay-Z’s response came in the most unexpected way, in a guest verse to the remix “All The Way Up” released on tidal. Beyoncé’s relationship with Jay-Z has seen its best and worst days. People still remember the altercation between Solanje Knowles, Beyoncé’s sister and Jay-Z in an elevator. The fight was dealt with amicably by both parties and spared the public the much anticipated celebrity drama from unfolding.

There are definitely two sides to this story, was this a marriage in crisis or a marketing strategy? It is difficult to tell with celebrities, they know that people love controversy and sometimes they use it to their own benefit. Jay-Z accepted in his response that Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ made millions, although he did not answer to the accusations of cheating.

Jay-Z’s response was much awaited by both the fans and the media. The people did not expect that he would brush it aside so casually in a guest verse. They expected more, something like an album dedicated to address such rumors. There is still hope that this is just a beginning and there is more to come. Jay-Z showed some diplomacy in the way he handled this issue and seems to show that their relationship is still strong and sound. He did not tackle the accusations head on like everyone expected but chose to downplay it.

There are reports that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are working on an album in which they are going to address some of the issues raised in “Lemonade”. It seems the power music couple wants to show a united stand and dispel any rumors of a rift in their relationship. They have been seen together, hand in hand, at some of the poshest restaurants in New York City like Del Posto, Bar Pitti, Mamo and Lucalli. This does not look like a relationship in crisis, so what is it? Some have called it a fan loop, media loop and marketing loop.

All indications show that the couple made a lot of money from “Lemonade” and this issue is far from over. They will make more money in the coming months when their album comes out unless there is another surprise in store. Releasing “The Way Up” on Tidal gave Jay-Z an opportunity to respond to Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ accusations while making money at the same time. The response was not as extensive as everyone expected but all the same there was something to talk about. It was calculating and diplomatic. No one is surprised though, both Jay-Z and Beyoncé are business people and they definitely know what they are doing. The media and their fans are surely waiting to hear what they have in store for them. Is it going to be a duet with more revelations or more surprises? Time will tell as more drama unfolds from the music mogul couple. Jay-Z and Beyoncé keep the entertainment industry on its toes.
