According to “Mother Jones,” on Thursday, June 16, 2016, the CIA Director John Brennan told the Senate Intelligence Committee, there was no new evidence to link the terrorist group ISIS to the Orlando Massacre and warned this reality can lead to other terrorist attacks in the future.
The terrorist group is attracting sympathizers to their cause abroad, which makes it difficult to predict when or where the next attack will occur. Brennan did, however, provide encouraging news when he discussed that the anti-ISIS campaign has been successful disrupting the terrorist group’s access to fighters, territory, and much needed financial resources.
The CIA did not have any new information for law enforcement at the moment, but Americans need to stay aware of their surroundings and help thwart any attacks coming from sympathizers to the ISIS cause by filing reports of suspected terrorist activity. The plea is similar to public service campaigns that were posted after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, “If you see something, say something.” People are asked to speak up when they see things that look out of the norm. This is the best way to protect American communities, according to the authorities.
