TMZ reported that on April 15, 2016, Prince’s jet had to make an emergency landing in Illinois. Only 48 minutes from home and hours after a concert in Atlanta, he was rushed to a hospital in Moline, Illinois, and was allegedly given what is called a “save shot.” According to TMZ, this shot is allegedly given to counteract the effect of opiates.
According to TMZ Prince was allegedly advised by doctors to remain in the hospital for at least 24 hours, however, he was unable to be allowed a private room so he left the hospital after three hours. TMZ claims Minnesota authorities are attempting to obtain Prince’s hospital records from Moline, Illinois, in order to determine the cause of Prince’s death. TMZ has allegedly reached out to the musical artist’s representatives for comments but to no avail.
Several news stations have reported that he passed away in an elevator, which is the only information that has been confirmed at this time. CNN, NBC, CBS and BBC have not said anything about the death of Prince being drug-related. At this point, his cause of death is unknown.
The Public Slate will post more information as it becomes available.
