Chyna, a former WWE wrestler, was found dead late Wednesday night, April 20, 2016, in her home. Her death was announced early Thursday morning via the star’s official Twitter account. The realization of her death was followed by an outcry of support from fans and peers. Former wrestler and current WWE brand officer, Stephanie McMahon, paid tribute to Chyna and her legacy on her Twitter account, as well.
Chyna, 46, was found dead in her home when a friend discovered her unresponsive and not breathing. The former WWE wrestler had not been heard from for a few days, prompting friends to search her out. Authorities in Redondo Beach, California, were called immediately and Chyna was pronounced dead at the scene. The WWE wrestler’s manager told E! news that her death took place late Wednesday night.
The cause of death has not been revealed. However, authorities expressed there were no signs of foul play. An investigation into the cause of the star’s passing is underway.
Chyna has struggled with drug addiction for several years. She was featured on the 2008 reality show, Celebrity Rehab, which begs to question whether her addiction played any part in her death.
Upon the announcement of the WWE wrestling pioneer being found dead, fans and colleagues reacted through social media, expressing their sadness and offering condolences to those directly affected by the loss of Chyna.
