‘Star Wars’ spoilers abound, while director J.J. Abrams keeps the plot under lock and key. However, it appears that the release of new merchandise on Force Friday may give fans some more details about the new ‘The Force Awakens’ characters.
By now, we all know that Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn) are hanging out together on the desert-like planet, Jakku, identified by director J.J. Abrams at the ‘Star Wars’ Celebration in Anaheim, earlier this year. It was also suggested during that panel, that Finn is a renegade Stormtrooper (we see him dressed in the familiar white armor in the first and second trailers), but that could be a bit misleading.
WARNING: SPOILERS ahead. Read at your own risk.
According to a report in the British publication ‘Hey U Guys’, a description of the costume Finn wears in the film could be a ‘Star Wars’ spoiler. Here is what comes with the Halloween costume, which Disney expects to be a huge hit.
“Sometimes, heroes come from the unlikeliest of places. The Galactic Empire has been dead for decades, but evil never really dies. With villains rising to take the Empire’s place, heroes must rise to oppose them. After becoming stranded by himself in the deserts of Jakku, and meeting up with a girl named Rey, a Stormtrooper named Finn has joined the side of the Resistance. He began his adventure as a part of the New Order, but now he’s one of the few people that can stop them. With a new look, Finn is ready for a new mission. Since trading in his Stormtrooper armor for a new set of gear, Finn’s outfit might not be flashy, but it’s all that a hero needs to succeed.”
From Abrams’ explanation and the images on the trailers, most assumed that Finn had defected The First Order and was running away from its leader, Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). He joins the scavenger, Rey, for unknown reasons and they hook up with original characters, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew).
However, the description on the costume appears to be a ‘Star Wars’ spoiler, as it clearly states Finn “becomes stranded” which changes the original suppositions about him. We still don’t know who his father is, but many assume he’s a relative of Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams).
Do you think the ‘Star Wars’ spoiler suggests that Finn can be trusted by Rey and Han Solo?
