Community Alert Robbery


About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 1st (Central) and 18th (Near North) Districts of robbery related incidents during the month of August. Offenders were driving a newer model, small hatch back, black or dark blue in color. The driver was wearing a white shirt in both incidents. Offenders displayed a black handgun in both incidents. On the 1000 block of N. Wells, the offender/passenger pulled alongside the victim and asked for directions, then pointed a black handgun at victim and ordered him to place his wallet and cell phone on ground and walk away. The passenger then ordered the victim to “Drop your bag and jacket on the ground and keep on walking”. The victim complied with both demands. On the 600 block of S. Wells, the offenders followed the victim down an alley, pulled up to the victim and pointed a black handgun at the victim. An offender then ordered the victim to turn around and empty everything from his pockets. The victim complied.

•1000 block of N Wells St. on 25 August 2015 at 4:30-5:00 AM
•600 block of S. Wells St. on 25 August 2015 at 5:30-5:35 AM

About the offenders:
Armed and Dangerous
#1: Male, black, 20-30, 5’09, 160 lbs., Dark Complexion
#2: Male, black, 20-30, 190-245 lbs., Dark Complexion

What you can do:
•Always be aware of your surroundings
•Report suspicious activity immediately
•If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
•Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
•Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
•If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
•Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
