Yemen Getting Bombed by Saudi Air Force Pilots for Bentleys

Yemen is getting bombed by Saudi Arabian Air Force pilots for getting Bentleys awarded to themselves. Before carrying out the catastrophic destruction of Yemen and mass murder of innocent Yemeni civilians, the kingdom’s Prince Alaweed bin Talal had promised to present the fighter pilots of Saudi Arabia with brand new, swanky, Bentley cars. As absurd, cruel, and shocking as it may sound, it is a fact. The campaign which was led by Saudi fighter pilots, was against rebellion groups in Yemen which are reportedly being backed by Iran. The operation was named Operation Decisive Storm. The Prince, who is considered to be one of the richest men in the world, had promised each pilot a Bentley car after they successfully returned from the campaign.

The Prince apparently posted a tweet Tuesday, April 21, congratulating the leaders for the victory they had achieved in Operation Decisive Storm in Yemen. He also mentioned about the beginning of another military campaign named Operation Restoring Hope. He acknowledged the one hundred Saudi pilots who were a part of the operation and declared that each one of them would be presented with a Bentley car. The tweet was later deleted from the Prince’s twitter account.

Understandably, the Prince’s tweet has outraged the civilian population of Yemen, who have seen members of their family being killed and their homes getting destroyed by the bombings. Operation Decisive Storm ended Monday, April 20, after 21 days of intense bombardment in Yemen. His tweet has also angered users of Twitter along with many people around the world who immediately criticized the Saudi Prince for his tweet and his announcement of awarding Bentleys. They have pointed out how the bombings in Yemen have led to a huge humanitarian crisis and an extremely high number of civilian casualties in the last month. Almost 1000 people have been killed and close to 3500 have been seriously injured due to the bombings which lasted three weeks. This is an estimate as per the World Health Organization report on the Yemeni crisis.

However, many people have also liked the Prince’s tweet and his declaration of the award. Some have even gone as far as applauding the Prince for his generous act. Hundreds of people living in Saudi Arabia mentioned that the pilots deserved every bit of the award and luxurious cars like Bentley for their service to the kingdom. It is clear now that Yemen was getting bombed by Saudi Air Force pilots for getting Bentleys as award.

Prince Alaweed bin Talal, 60, is the grandson of Ibn Saud, the founder of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His personal fortune is currently estimated at around $23 billion. He is the owner of Kingdom Holdings, which is one of the largest companies in Saudi Arabia. Apart from this, he owns stakes worth approximately $300 million in Twitter. The Prince also has investments in Citigroup, Time Warner, and Apple Inc. Prince Alaweed has been known for his opulent gifts in the past. Last year, he had gifted Bentley cars to each of the 25 members of the Saudi soccer team of after their success in a league competition. It is now clear that the Saudi Air Force pilots were ruthlessly bombing Yemen, including the civilian areas, as they were promised new Bentleys as gifts.
