Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin have made their divorce official after ten years of marriage. The couple has two children together, Apple and Moses, and have decided to remain friendly for the sake of their children. Supposedly, the final paperwork was to be signed by a judge on April 20th. The former couple arranged for their business mangers to settle their assets including property and custody of the children. The actress and her former husband have decided to share custody of the children and remain as amicable as possible. Their biggest concern right now is the kids, according to People Magazine. They want to remain close and keep things as civil and normal as possible in that it is what is best for their children. The couple, who split back in March of 2014, even vacationed together not long after splitting, with their kids. Martin even purchased a home in Los Angeles close to where Paltrow resides just to be near his family.
According to the Huffington Post, the reason for divorce was listed as irreconcilable differences and she was the one to really push for the divorce to be finalized, especially after the couple have been living apart for over a year. Paltrow and Martin are concerned with behaving like mature adults and have been able to do so the last several weeks while going over the final divorce details. The pair, who really surprised their fans back in March 2014 when they split, have both moved onto other relationships. Martin has been linked to actress Jennifer Lawrence and Paltrow has been linked to Brad Falchuk, who is a producer for the TV show Glee. Paltrow and Martin are making attempts to move past their relationship and seem to be happy for each other, according to the Huffington Post. They just want things to run as smoothly as possible in terms of the split and are trying to be supportive of one another.
Paltrow, in an interview with US Weekly, stated that the split was not due to drama or anything majorly serious. She said that she just felt like she was focusing too much on her significant other rather than herself. She also stated that she has always been one to put others first and it was time to work on her own personal needs and not base her sense of self-worth on other people. Paltrow added that her and Martin are still close pals and hopefully always will be and she is happy that they can come out of this situation so close and in sync. Paltrow just wants to be the best mother that she can possibly be, while still making room for her career. She wants to do right by her kids and know that she has put her all in everything that she does, especially raising her children.
Even though Paltrow felt as if she could not keep the marriage going anymore, that does not mean that her and Martin cannot continue their friendship. According to People Magazine, Paltrow considers them a family and always will. Though Paltrow and Martin are officially divorced, they are determined to remain close and amicable.
