Steven Tyler, frontman for the legendary rock group, Aerosmith, welcomed his second grandson into the world this past Wednesday, February 11, when his daughter Liv went into labor a month before her due date. As soon as Tyler, 66, got word that his daughter was in labor, he boarded a plane and rushed to be by her side to be there for the blessed event, according to People.
Tyler said to a reporter from People that when he received a phone call that Liv had gone into labor, he cried like a baby then “dropped everything and went to the airport to get on the next available flight.” On Friday, February 13, he posted the joyous news on his Facebook page.
Though Steven Tyler made it in time for his second grandson to be born in New York City, he was almost a bit late for the important date. He stated that one of his other daughters, Mia, kept calling him and giving him updates and finally told him “HURRY THE BABY IS COMING!” He called being there when his second grandson was born a “moment of a lifetime for me.”
Mia, who is Liv’s half-sister, mentioned how “special” it was to help “bring a life into this world with the most important people in your life.” She equated helping her sister and family out with the birth to having “a new pup in our wolf pack.”
Grammy Award-winning rocker, Steven Tyler, echoed this sentiment, tweeting to his friends, family and fans “so proud of my Alpha Pup.” Though his second grandson was born 6 weeks early, he is in good health, according to a source.
The baby is the first one that Liv Tyler and her boyfriend, David Gardner, who is a sports manager and agent, have had together. Liv Tyler is a model and actress, who stars in The Leftovers. Both she and her newest arrival are reportedly doing well and the whole family, according to a representative for the Tylers, “is very happy.”
Liv and David’s son is the latest addition to their growing family. Liv’s first son, from a previous marriage, is older brother Milo, who is now 10. The baby’s other older brother, Gray, who is 7, is Gardner’s son from a previous marriage.
Steven Tyler first became a grandfather in 2004, when Liv gave birth to her first son, Milo William Langdon. She was then married to husband Royston Langdon.
Being a grandfather has not slowed Steven Tyler down, in the least. After becoming a grandfather for the first time in 2004, Tyler was transformed into a cartoon character on The Simpsons, is credited with having been the writer of parts of episodes of TV series like Glee and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and he became a judge on American Idol. This was all in-between touring and being involved in other projects, like the 2007 documentary, Impact: Songs That Changed the World – Run DMC and Aerosmith: Walk This Way.
Still, as the veteran rocker Steven Tyler found out, nothing can compare to the joy of being with one’s daughter as she welcomes a new life into the world. The singer of Sweet Emotion was, himself, brought to tears, overcome with the sweet emotion of becoming a grandfather for the second time when his daughter, Liv, gave birth to her second son this past Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Congratulations to Steven Tyler and the happy parents of his second grandson, Liv and David Gardner!
