GMO Usage in the United States Raises Questions

The United States of America often stands alone on world issues. When the reason is morality, human rights, or the security of our nation, the courage to do the right thing, even if it isolates us, is admirable. However, when our nation is in denial about issues of public safety and general health, we must ask why. Allowing farmers and ranchers to use genetically modified foods and seeds raises questions from potential consumers.

The entire European Union, Australia, Japan, and other nations have either banned GMO’s or have restrictions regarding food produced with their use. The United States continues to claim that they pose no danger to humans.

Were tests performed before their use was approved? Yes and no. The FDA selected Monsanto to perform the tests; Monsanto is the largest GMO producer. If you choose to believe the results of their tests, I’ll give you a great price on a bridge.

An investigation must begin immediately. Follow the money and the American people will know why a dangerous product is being used in our nation. Our government refuses to require labels on food produced with the use of GMO’s allowing consumers to choose for themselves if they believe ingesting these genetically modified products may or may not be dangerous to their health. Lobbyists ‘1,’ the American people ‘0.’

A recently revealed study by a group of scientists who research genetic toxicology adds to the growing evidence that GMO products are unsafe.

Examination of 127 Brazilian soy bean workers exposed damage directly related to GMO’s. Of the test group 81 were exposed to the biocides, while 46 were not. The workers labored in fields where soy beans were grown using seeds manufactured with the use of GMO’s. These seeds are resistant to Monsanto’s primary and profitable Round-up herbicide. The main ingredient is glyphosate. The exposed group had DNA damage. In addition the glyphosate caused a form of cell death when the cells kill themselves called apoptosis.

Last week U.S. government agencies approved Monsanto’s GMO produced soybeans and cotton, despite objections by consumers.

Our government refuses to listen to its people. Instead they adhere to the wishes of lobbyists. The reasons to ban GMO’s are multiple; here are a few.

The claim by Monsanto and other agricultural giants that GMO’s will increase world food production has proven to be a falsehood. They blamed increased food prices were the result of inadequate production. The truth was that the increase prices was attributable to the rise in bio-fuel costs and therefore transportation.

Because of GMO resistance to pesticides, farmers have increased their usage; the residue is extremely difficult to wash off.

Monsanto and others claim that GMO foods have been sold in the United States for years without causing health problems. Scientists disagree; because there are no labels, there are no statistics if consumers purchased genetically modified foods and suffered damage.

GMO’s will eventually increase the price of food. Dependence on GMO seeds is growing among farmers; and the prices are escalating.

Organic crops are becoming contaminated by GMO’s. Easily spread by the wind, they infest fields where safe crops are grown.

We cannot trust the giant companies which produce GMO’s. Their past record of selling chemicals which are harmful to animals and humans is deplorable.

Monsanto produced ‘Agent Orange.’ They claimed it posed no danger to humans; it would simply kill foliage.

  1. I have one question I would like answered.

Monsanto and their supporters claim that Roundup is harmless to animals and humans because the mechanism of action it uses (which allows it to kill weeds), called the shikimate pathway, is absent in all animals. However, the shikimate pathway IS present in bacteria.

THE BACTERIA IN YOUR BODY OUTNUMBER YOUR OWN CELLS 10 TO 1.

For every cell in your body, you have 10 microbes of various kinds, and all of them have the shikimate pathway, so they will all respond to the presence of glyphosate! As the overwhelming majority of GMO is produced to withstand Glyphosate, we end up with Glyphosate residue in our food, which causes severe disruption to over 90% of the cells in our body.

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW A HUMAN BEING INGESTING GLYPHOSATE IS NOT DANGEROUS TO THE MICROBES WITHIN OUR BODY THAT WE ARE DEPENDENT ON FOR PROPER FUNCTIONING OF OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM?

  2. Ninety percent of GMO crops are designed to be Roundup ready. What that means is farmers can spray Roundup weed killer directly onto crops that will be turned into the food that you and your family eat.
Roundup consists glyphosate plus surfactants. One of the surfactants used in the newer formulations of Roundup is siloxanes. Siloxanes are used in pharmaceutical drugs to penetrate the cell wall and get the drug into the cell more effectively. Glyphosate and the siloxanes combine to create a new molecule that is a hydrophobic substance. This new molecule is much more toxic to bacterial cells than Glyphosate alone and easily penetrates the bacterial cell wall. Prior to 2005, the formulation for agricultural grade Roundup produced a substance that was roughly 300 times more toxic than Glyphosate alone. In 2005 the surfactants were modified to include more powerful siloxanes, which created an even more toxic formulation than the previous permutation. After 2005 Weathermax Two Roundup is roughly one thousand times more potent than Glyphosate alone. In addition to the newly added siloxanes, oxalic acid was added as an adjuvant to make roundup work faster. Oxalic Acid speeds the glyphosate into plant and allows it to penetrated very quickly, delivering the glyphosate deep into the tissue of the plant.
And guess what? Roundup does the same thing inside of you as it attacks your immune system by penetrating the microbes in your gut and delivering its deadly payload. Yippee!!!
We as a society have the good fortune of having this toxic concoction that is much more poisonous than glyphosate alone being sprayed directly on to crops that we convert into food that we eat. There have been precisely zero studies done as to the toxicity of the entire Roundup formulation on mammals. ZERO. Tests have only been carried out on glyphosate alone. I am brimming with confidence. Pass the poison please.

  3. BREAKING NEWS. HEADLINE
The Monsanto herbicide Glyphosate better known as Roundup Weed Killer is being fed to children in levels higher than what has been shown to destroy gut bacteria in chickens. But that’s ok. Those kids didn’t need their gut bacteria anyway!
    EXCITING NEW DEVELOPMENTS!
New lab report testing carried out by Moms Across America has found the world’s number one herbicide, glyphosate, to be in feeding tube liquid which is given to babies and children who are in need of nutrition in intensive care. Specifically, the herbicide was found in PediaSure Enteral Nutritional Drink.
The testing found that 6 of the 20 samples tested contained ‘high’ levels of glyphosate – over 75 ug/l, which was the minimum detection level of the ELISA assay used.
THESE LEVELS ARE HIGHER THAN WHAT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO DESTROY GUT BACTERIA IN CHICKENS(.1ppb).
Moms Across America Founder Zen Honeycutt stated:
“It is appalling that our health care providers have been led to believe this feeding liquid is safe. Our children and loved ones believe that our health institutions are supporting their immune system and recovery, instead they are being fed a liquid which contains a herbicide that could be seriously damaging their health.”
The PediaSure Enteral Nutritional Drink tested contained GM maize (GM corn syrup) and GM soya, both of which are sprayed with glyphosate-based herbicides (these include Monsanto’s ‘RoundUp’ herbicide), during the growing season and at harvest as a drying agent.
Abbott Nutrition, the manufacturer of the PediaSure family of products, describes them as “a source of complete, balanced nutrition designed especially for children 1 to 13 years of age.”
BALANCED NUTRITION FOR YOUR CHILD, INCLUDING THE FULL DAILY ALLOWANCE OF ROUNDUP WEED KILLER.
Sarah Cusack, MPT, CHHC told Moms Across America:
“As a mother I am very disturbed by these results. Working as a paediatric Physical Therapist I met children with feeding issues who depend on tube feedings for their entire lives. Children who experience trauma and are recovering from car accidents, shootings, cancers, surgeries and other illnesses may require these tube feedings for days, weeks, or years.
I have long questioned the nutritionally poor and inflammatory ingredients in these feedings but am devastated to find out that they are contaminated with poison. Our most vulnerable children, and our children healing from overwhelming trauma, deserve better.”

This new testing is the latest to raise awareness regarding the ubiquitous and harmful nature of glyphosate-based pesticides. Regulators as well as Monsanto claim that glyphosate is excreted from the body, but numerous studies have shown that not only is it causing numerous health problems, it is also showing up in urine samples, blood samples, and even breast milk.
The lab results also follow the first ever pilot biosurvey on glyphosate in the breast milk of American women, commissioned by Moms Across America and Sustainable Pulse in 2014, which found ‘high’ levels in 3 out of the 10 samples tested.
Sustainable Pulse Director Henry Rowlands concluded:
“The more data produced regarding the levels of glyphosate in our food, water and medicines the better. Even though this testing is not validated it does give a strong clue as to how ubiquitous glyphosate is in the U.S. food supply system. The question the EPA, USDA and all regulatory bodies worldwide should be asking themselves is are they willing to risk public health by relying on short-term industry sponsored safety studies on glyphosate and all other pesticides.
It is time for the regulators (Former Monsanto executives) to support long-term independent science to determine just how damaging glyphosate pesticides are for this and future generations. While these studies are being completed all glyphosate-based herbicides should be removed from the shelves.”
