Not only have the Girl Scouts gone digital with their cookie sales, they have also added three new cookie options for the discerning buyer. Of the three new tastes, two of them are gluten-free and first up is a peanut butter oatmeal cookie called “Trios” which is the first of the gluten-free tasty treats. The second option being offered this year is a butter cookie laden with toffee bits which they are calling “Toffeetastic.” Both sound like good options. The third new cookie is a raisin oatmeal cookie which is being called “Rah Rah Raisins.” The names certainly fit in with the existing cookies they currently sell and one can only hope they taste as good too.
Taking stock in what is happening in the world around us, the Girl Scouts have not only added gluten-free options, but the Rah Rah Raisin cookie is made with the ever popular choice of Greek yogurt in the form of chunks in the cookie, as well as featuring whole grain oatmeal. Move over thin mints, the ever-changing world of picky eaters has arrived in the form of a cookie. The butter cookie features nothing but pure ingredients with no preservatives, and all their ingredients are certified to be gluten-free, as well as their dedicated facility to produce them. This goes for the Toffeetastic cookie as well. They are both certified to be gluten-free and produced in a gluten-free facility.
The Girl Scouts have long been an advocate of women in business and have aimed to teach young girls and young women the value of business sense. The use of badges and patches to teach the value of earning something and the knowledge and confidence needed to sell a product has been a staple of these troops for years. Now they are elevating that to fit today’s society by entering into the digital age which the Boy Scouts have done for years now. Now consumers can order their popcorn and their Girl Scout cookies on-line without waiting for them to arrive at the door. They are however one upping their male counterparts by added healthier choices to the menu and using the freshest and purest of ingredients.
For many the New Year means cookies and the annual appearance of the cute little Girl Scouts selling Thin Mints and Samoas marks the true beginning of the year for cookie lovers everywhere. Not everyone will get to try out the newest of the tasty treats as this is a run to test the market with the three new snacks. They will sell them until they are gone and when they are gone they are done with them for the year. One can assume that how quickly they sell out will be a determining factor on whether or not they are brought back next year. The thin mint cookies have long been the best seller of the Girl Scouts brand, so it is anyone’s guess if these gluten-free options will stand the test of time.
