The nominations for the Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards were announced this Friday, January 30, and the lovely Miranda Lambert led with the most nominations, with a total of eight. Two of her nominations were for Entertainer of the Year as well as Female Vocalist of the Year. For a complete list of the other country artists nominated for ACM awards, read on!
Joel McHale, Lee Bryce, and Jamie Lynn Spears announced the country music singers who were nominated for the 50th Annual 2015 ACM awards. The co-hosts of the ACM awrds show, for their fourth time, will be Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton. The awards show will be broadcast on Sunday, April 19 at 8 p.m. ET,on CBS, from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. In second place with seven nominations was Dierks Bentley, with two of the nominations being in the categories of Male Vocalist and Album of the Year, for his hit release, Riser.
With five ACM awards nominations was the popular group, Florida Georgia Line. One of the four nominations was also for Entertainer of the Year. Both the Entertainer of the Year and New Artist ACM awards winners are determined by the voting of fans.
The five nominees in the ACM category of Vocal Event of the Year were This Is How We Roll by Florida Georgia Line featuring one of the show’s co-hosts, Luke Bryan; Lonely Tonight by Blake Shelton featuring Ashley Monroe; The South by the trio, The Cadillac Three, featuring Mike Eli and Dierks Bentley; Somethin’ Bad sang by the duet of Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert; and, Meanwhile Back at Mama’s, by Tim McGraw, along with Faith Hill.
In the category of Single Record of the Year, the five ACM awards nominees were Lee Brice for I Don’t Dance; Kenny Chesney for his single, American Kids; Dierks Bentley, for his song about breaking up, Drunk on a Plane; Florida Georgia Line’s single, Dirt; and Miranda Lambert and her big hit, Automatic.
The ACM nominations in a similar category, that of Song of the Year, included two songs from the Single Record of the Year category, Chesney’s American Kids and Lambert’s song, Automatic. The other four songs nominated were Dierks Bentley’s smash, I Hold On; Luke Bryan’s big hit, Drink a Beer; Eric Church’s popular song, Give Me Back My Hometown; and, Kacey Musgraves with a song that has already helped her win some other awards, Follow Your Arrow.
The five albums nominated in the ACM category of Album of the Year were the Eric Church release, The Outsiders; Jason Aldean’s Old Boots, New Dirt; Dierks Bentley’s monster best seller, Riser; Miranda Lambert’s excellent release, Platinum; and Little Big Town’s Pain Killer.
There were five groups nominated for the ACM awards show category of Vocal Group of the Year. They were The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum, the Zac Brown Band, Rascal Flatts and Little Big Town. This category, like many of the others, will be difficult to choose a winner from, as all five are great.
In the ACM category of Vocal Duo of the Year, there were five duos nominated, but it would be a good guess that the winner will probably be perennial winners, Florida Georgia Line. The other four nominated were the Brothers Osborne, The Swon Brothers, Maddie & Tae and Dan + Shay.
One of the remaining big ACM categories, for Female Vocalist of the Year, had five talented singers nominated. There was, of course, Miranda Lambert. The other four were the talented Brandy Clark, Kacey Musgraves, Martina McBride and Carrie Underwood.
Then, in the ACM category of Male Vocalist of the Year, another major category, there were six singers nominated. They were Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church and Luke Bryan.
Perhaps the biggest category of the night is the ACM one for Entertainer of the Year. Besides Florida Georgia Line and Miranda Lambert, mentioned previously in this article, the other three performers nominated were Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Garth Brooks, who can never be counted out.
