Actor Vin Diesel did not have much to say as Groot in Marvel’s blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy, just the three words “I am Groot,” but he might even have less to say if he lands another Marvel role he seems to be after, that of Black Bolt in the movie planned for a November 2, 2018 release, Inhumans. Black Bolt rarely speaks because his hypersonic voice is his superpower and it is extremely destructive.
Vin Diesel has been campaigning strongly for the role on his Facebook page, wearing a black T-shirt with the Inhumans logo superimposed over it with the caption “Are You Inhuman?” Also, back on August 9, in a tweet showing what he looked like as Groot, Vin Diesel wrote he had the feeling that “Marvel thinks I’m Inhuman… Haha.”
The Fast & Furious star had stated, according to the MovieWeb site, that he was just playing Groot “for the immediacy of the project,” but that “he would also be appearing in human form at some point.”
Perhaps someone at Marvel told Vin Diesel that he would get to eventually be Black Bolt in an upcoming Inhumans movie before he ever signed up to play Groot. Either that, or Vin Diesel was told he would be in a Marvel movie at some future date, and he would like it to be in Inhumans. If that is the case, maybe he feels that mentioning his desire to be in the movie on social media sites will help persuade Marvel execs to cast him in the movie, if they had not already intended to do so.
Black Bolt is otherwise known as Blackagar Boltagon, the King of the Inhumans. The Inhumans are the result of a Kree experiment, and they live in the city of Attilan. They developed their superpowers due to Terrigin Mist, and they can pass on their powers through selective breeding. Black Bolt has what is basically a tuning fork on his forehead to direct his vocal power.
If Vin Diesel does get to play Black Bolt, despite that character not speaking very much, the xXx actor might get additional lines by playing Black Bolt’s twin brother, Maximus the Mad, another member of Inhumans. Besides these two characters, the rest of the Inhumans, who were first introduced in Fantastic Four in 1965, are Lockjaw, Crystal, Gorgon, Triton, Medusa and Karnak. Maximus the Mad likes to talk a lot, so Vin Diesel potentially could wind up with having to say quite a few lines if he is asked to play the dual role.
Inhumans will be the eighth out of nine movies in Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will come out right in-between the two Marvel flicks, Captain Marvel and Avengers 3.
According to Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige, he believes that Inhumans “can be a franchise or a series of franchise unto themselves.” If Vin Diesel gets to be in the movie as Black Bolt and Maximus the Mad, he might find himself in yet another successful franchise — though, it would be difficult to match the box office earnings power of the Fast & Furious movies.
Many fans have already commented on social media sites that they believe that Vin Diesel would be perfect for the role of Black Bolt and his twin bro, Maximus the Mad. However, some fans think that he might be better as Gorgon. Whatever role that Vin Diesel might have in Inhumans, he is sure to put his own special spin and flare on it, and make it a memorable one.
