Women are not Equal to Men

Attending a women’s rights conference, the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, made a statement which has sparked thousands of remarks on social media. He began with a statement claiming that it is impossible to make women equal to men, it ‘is against nature.’

It makes one wonder how many of the world’s leaders feel the same. It is obvious that our legislators in Washington agree with Erdogan; they have failed to pass legislation guaranteeing total equality in the workplace twice. Most of the world’s religious leaders believe in his statement. Our planet will remain in the dark ages until men, who have screwed up the world for far too long, realize that women are not only equal, but are actually superior in many ways.

There are those who would claim that American women have achieved equality with men in most areas; they would be mistaken. Let’s begin with the way women are viewed in the movies, on television, and in their daily lives. The majority of men believe women have a singular purpose; they view them as inferior persons to serve at their request.

Motion pictures continue to depict women as secondary citizens and sex objects. James Bond is a heroic figure, but if a woman played the role and slept with every man she met, she would be condemned. Instead ‘Bond Girls’ are remembered, but not for their acting ability. Television is far worse in regards to its portrayal of women. The very existence of ‘reality shows’ is an embarrassment. Shows such as ‘The Real Wives of Beverly Hills,’ and other cities depict women as ignorant, petty, calculating, greedy, insecure, and just plain dumb. In the workplace women who are relatively young and have an above average appearance receive special treatment. A less attractive, middle-aged woman may exhibit a higher level of achievement but is less recognized. This same woman’s male counterpart, who performs the same exact function, is likely to receive a higher rate of pay.

In the world there are four large religions; Muslims, Catholics, Jews and the Church of Latter Day Saints, commonly referred to as ‘Mormons.’ All four have one thing in common; women are subservient to men and these men make all of the rules. There will never be a female Ayatollah, Priest, Rabi, or a member of the Priesthood. And the men who lead religions want control over the bodies of women who practice their faith.

The United States military continues to fail the women who serve. Sexual assault continues, and continues to be managed in the same manner as it was decades ago. The commanding officer is the only person to decide if a complaint is prosecuted. If a female soldier or sailor does file a formal complaint she is frequently passed over for a promotion.

In matters of crime, violations against women are a lesser priority than those against men. Recently a police officer in Texas admitted that he did not believe ‘simple rape’ was a crime. Rape and sexual assault are on the rise in America. Estimates that as many as one out of three college coeds will be a target at some time during her education. Thousands of women a year are murdered by a present or past ‘significant other.’

The NFL has concealed cases of domestic violence for decades; and it is failing to take it seriously today.

Women in the 21st century are dominating men in college and the workplace. They are marrying later in life or not at all. Their careers have become more important, creating an independent and secure generation of women.

When will women become completely equal with men? I’m not certain, but I hope they don’t have to lose IQ points to accomplish it.
