As Democrats and Republicans battle over who will control the United States Senate, news has come out of Michigan that Gary Peters has won his race. Running against Republican Terri Lynn Land, Peters was considered the underdog in the race. But Land’s campaign failed to connect with voters and has been described as a failed campaign due to blowing a race where she was considered the favorite. Despite significant Republican gains in the state, Peters’ win keeps up a 20-year-long streak of Democratic senators from Michigan. It may also be a key win in the balance of power in the Senate.
